The
MetrolabPDI 5025 (IEEE-488 & RS-232)
and PDI 5035 (VME) Precision Digital Integrators
are particularly suitable for precision magnetic field
mapping in space or time by measurement of flux change
induced voltages in moving coils or wires. A precision
Flip-Coil Sensor enables measurement of very high static
fields up to 50T. Characterization of permanent magnets
can be achieved by rotating the magnets within a coil
system and measuring the induced voltages. Errors from
eddy currents in B-H or M-H hysteresis measurements on
conducting magnetic samples are significantly reduced
by operating at very low frequency.
The digital integration technique eliminates the errors
obtained with analog integration at long integration times.
It also enables an integration interval to be divided
into sub-intervals with essentially no dead-time. Integration
resolution is down to less than 0.1µV.sec, with
time intervals as short as 1ms for the 5025 and 0.25ms
for the 5035. Integration times may be defined by the
internal clock, external time, or other trigger sources
(such as from position encoders for field mapping.)
