The BPM-UHV-50 Beam Pickup with four buttons mounted in a 50mm diameter beam tube is intended for applications with the Bergoz LR-BPM Log-Ratio Beam Position Monitor electronics. Precision 12mm diameter circular button electrodes are suitable for beam frequency components to over 3GHz.

Rotatable Conflat flanges as each end of a short (76.20mm (3 inch)) beam tube enable insertion in high-vacuum, metal seal, vacuum lines. These flanges enables installiation with the four buttons on horzontal and vertical axes or with the button axes at 45° to the horizontal. The Conflat mounted pickup buttons enable easy replacement in the event of damage.

Applications
  • For bunch trains the resolution is proportional to the square root of the effective bandwidth
  • For signals over -40dBm the position resolution is expected to be better than 100Ám at 5MHz bandwidth, and improving to better than 15Ám at 100kHz bandwidth
  • For single bunch beams with a bunch charge over about 10pC, the position resolution using the Bergoz LR-BPM is expect to be better than 150Ám
  • Single pass beam bunches in linacs, boosters and transfer lines.
